Accommodation & Transport
If you live within easy travelling distance of Rotherham, you may go home, and come back the next day for the second part of your treatment.
However if you are unable to travel home alternative accommodation arrangements can be made.
The department has an agreement with the Premier Inn Rotherham to provide three rooms per night to accommodate patients and one relative. Please note this DOES NOT include any meals.
Due to the additional cost of this arrangement to the department the following terms and conditions have been put in place:
- One double room will be provided free of charge for the patient and one relative.
- Additional accommodation will be at your own expense.
- Due to the number of rooms booked patients travelling over twenty five miles for treatment will be given priority should they wish to stay overnight. This would mean therefore that for patients living locally there would be no guarantee of overnight accommodation.
- Transport will be arranged to and from the hotel for patients but only one taxi will be ordered. If therefore more than one patient requires transport please be prepared for a slight wait until all treatments are completed.
- Relatives are respectfully advised that they may have to make their own transport arrangements.
- As rooms at the Premier Inn are not equipped with telephones patients are advised to ensure that have their own means of contacting the hospital in the event that medical advice or help be required.
Taxi pick up times will be arranged to coincide with the treatment times. For patients who have their own transport, travelling expenses remain unchanged and are arranged according to mileage.
Cancellations
To eliminate unnecessary cost to the department if an appointment needs to be cancelled or changed (especially when an early treatment time has been booked) we ask that patients:
- Take responsibility themselves for cancellation of the taxi by ringing A1 Taxis on 01709 555555.
- Let the unit know the night before if possible or before 10am on the day of treatment so that staff can cancel the room at the Premier Inn.
